Hastelloy B-2 is a kind of solution strengthened nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to reducing environments such as hydrogen chloride gas, sulfuric acid, acetic acid and phosphoric acid, etc. Molybdenum is one of the main alloy elements and can make Hastelloy B-2 be with good corrosion resistance when in reducing environment. Hastelloy B-2 nickel alloy can be used in the welding process because of its resistance property to the formation of grain boundary carbide deposits in the welding heat affected zone. This kind nickel alloy can provide excellent salt and acid resistance under a variety of concentrations and temperatures. In addition, Hastelloy B-2 has also excellent resistance property to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, knife line and heat affected zone attacking. When facing pure sulfuric acid and many non-oxidizing acids, Hastelloy B-2 can also have good performance.
Meanwhile, Hastelloy B-2 alloys exhibit poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments and it is not recommended with appllication in oxidizing media or in the presence of ferric or copper salts as they may cause rapid premature corrosion failures. Furthermore, because the ductility of Hastelloy B-2 would be reduced when under the temperature from 1000°F to 1600°F, the applications under this temperature scope are not suitable for Hastelloy B-2 alloy.
Density for Hastelloy B-2 Alloy: 9.22g/cm³.
In normal Hastelloy B-2 will be with annealing treatment.
